World Clocks Help Travelers, Businesses Cope With ChangesAll time zones are figured in relation to the Greenwich time line, and that remains constant around the globe, regardless of the country. For example, when it is 12 noon at the Greenwich line, it would be 11 a.m. in London and 1 p.m. in Paris. There are many reasons to track the world clocks but the main one to make it easier to find out the right time without having to remember how many hours to add or subtract for a given location. Understand how the world clocks are established is becoming more important in a global economy as companies from different countries are conducting business with other companies from around the globe. A business owner may get upset when they can have trouble reaching a client half way around the world until the chek world clocks and find out there is a 12-hour time difference. Not All Time Zones Follow Strict Boundaries While time zones on world clocks are established by drawing a straight line between the North and South Poles, there are locations where the time line divides a city or small town, often putting one side of the street in one time zone and the residents across the street may be an hour ahead or behind according to world clocks. While the idea of strict time zone application may be ideal, it is often unrealistic and in many instances the lines have become blurred or expanded inside a town to allow everyone living there to acknowledge the same time. The boundaries, often reflected on maps of world clocks, show how many of the lines have stretched or pushed back to allow the zone to encompass an entire community to help avoid confusion. There are several styles of world clocks to help decipher the time zone changes that also have adjustable settings to enable the user to change time zones with a push of a switch. However, for many having world clocks that also display a world map can help them better understand the effects of time zones when traveling or conducting business. |
