What Is Broadband Internet Service And How Do I Sign Up?

To understand what broadband internet is, and why it's so important, we must first travel back to the late nineties, when the internet first began to catch on. People had been using modems earlier than that, but it wasn't until the late nineties that the internet really became main stream'. Back then, modems were connected to phone lines and that's how you communicated with the world wide web. However, dial-up service was slow and it often left the user frustrated. Then, as technology became more advanced, broadband internet became available and people could finally free up their phone lines for more important things, like phone calls.

But What Is Broadband?

What is broadband is a question often asked by people who are interested in the service, because they've undoubtedly heard how great it is, but they don't really know what it's all about. For these people, all they have to do is sit at a computer that is hooked up to broadband service and they will learn immediately what broadband is really all about.

What is broadband? Broadband is a constant connection to the internet. It frees up your phone line and only requires a broadband connection, which is usually provided by your cable provider. What is broadband isn't as good of a question as how can one get broadband. The answer is, you call your cable provider.

If you've been using dial-up for all your internet needs, you are used to the slow download times and the slow page loads, so you don't realize that you are actually sort of living in the stone age, when it comes to computers at least. With broadband, you only have to click a link to see the difference. What is broadband? It is a faster, more reliable internet connection and if you've never used it before, you are seriously missing out.

Call your cable provider and ask them how much they charge for a broadband connection. Sometimes, you can get a great deal if you're a first time customer because these companies know that people who want to know what is broadband are wanting to try it out. These companies let you try it out for very little money, and sometimes free, because they know that once you use broadband and find out what is broadband, you will never go back to dial-up again.

So, get out of the stone age and get a real internet connection. Never have to wait for dial-up again. Who has time for that in today's increasingly busy world? Not many people have time for much, let alone time to wait for a page to load. So, stop wondering what is broadband and finally get it installed in your home or office today!
