Using OEM Volvo Car PartsOEM stands for original equipment manufacturer and is the obvious choice for replacing that particular Volvo car part. However, many times when confronted with an opportunity to save money we do not make the right decision that is good for our automobiles in the long-term. Often when that replacement of that particular Volvo car part is done, one does not take into account the long-term effects of that decision. There are two particular reasons why the owner of a Volvo should use OEM Volvo car parts. Those reasons include the fact that if you don't you may void the warranty of the vehicle and keep from your car from being a quality and dependable possession of yours. Void the Warranty If your Volvo is still under warranty it is important that you replace any needed parts with OEM Volvo car parts. Many garages and mechanics would minimize the use of original equipment manufacturer parts by saying that the company and distributor is merely trying to get additional dollars from their customers. There may be some truth to this argument. However, automobiles are designed and manufactured to move in concert with other various standard Volvo automobile parts. This synchronized movement allows for the proper functioning of all systems of the automobile. Any substandard performance of unauthorized substitutions may result in a breakdown of that designed system. Therefore, this breakdown may cause damage to the Volvo and may void the warranty. Quality There is an adage that states "you get what you pay for." There is considerable truth to this statement and certainly bears out when looking at replacing that water pump, alternator, radiator, etc. If you were to purchase a cheaper automobile part, to replace that part that has malfunctioned in your Volvo, you certainly would pay a much higher repair bill if that non-OEM Volvo car part were to fail. In addition, it is important to note that not all automobile parts are created equal. If the cost for an automobile part is less than using the recommended OEM Volvo car part, how do they provide the same part for less? Sound judgment would dictate that costs would need to have been cutback from some aspect of the manufacturing of that car part. Therefore, any cheaper costs may be reflected in cheaper materials or cheaper labor. Both would suggest a less than optimum product. |
