Uses for Tealight CandlesDifferent Kinds of Candles There are so many shapes and sizes of candles because these variables depend on the preference of the chandler's mold. Chandlers are people who specialize in making candles. The more noteworthy candles are the pillar candles, container candles, tealight candles, floaters and more. Tealight Candles Tealight candles are very small candles that are specifically made for use in heating food or beverages. These tealight candles are usually encased in tins that are thin and pliable. These candles are commonly placed under special food containers that have an opening at the bottom just large enough for the small candles to fit when they are lit. The candles serve as warmers for food, mostly soup and beverages, while guests are eating. Other uses for tealight candles have emerged throughout the years. They are also used for decorative purposes in small lamps and other candle containers that could not fit the bigger candles. These small candles are also used for heating aromatherapy oils. Tealight candles are placed in containers much like the food and beverage container, but smaller. They are left burning to heat up the oil mixed slightly with water to release the essential oil's scent. Tealight candles' wicks are glued to the bottom of the thin metal sheets that wrap around the body and bottom of the candle. As the candles burn, they turn to liquid and burn steadily until the liquid wax is used up. Tealight candles do not last as long as bigger candles and they liquefy fairly quickly. Care must be exercised when handling tealight candles because they are so small, and the entire metal sheet turns hot when they are burning. Despite their small size, they are still capable of heating up an entire pot of tea, which is why they are named so. Tealight candles do not give off bright light but they are still quite hot. Some people group them together to give off a bright light and to generate heat. They have a very short wick and thus a very short life span. Their wicks are generally glued to the bottom of the tin so it will not float up when the wax has liquefied. These special candles have been creatively used in a variety of centerpieces and table adornments to add light and ambiance to any room. |
