Building Your Own Solar Generator For A Mere Three Hundred Dollars Is Possible

It is possible to build your own solar generator by using parts that are readily available from local stores and which should not cost you more than two hundred and fifty to three hundred dollars and which would make excellent backups in case of power outages and are ideally suited if you happen to want to live without depending on a power grid. With a solar generator that you have built on your own, it is possible to provide enough power for using your home computer, modem, TV, lights and cameras as also any appliances running on DC power, and such generators are even suitable for taking to cabins out in the woods, boats out on the seas, and even in a tent, and are especially suitable if traveling to third world countries.

A Number Of Different Uses

You can also use a solar generator in an office store room when there is a power outage and it can even easily power up your CD player, lights and turntable. All you need to do is to first buy a not very large solar panel that costs about hundred dollars and makes sure that it is rated at minimum twelve volts and if you can, opt for one that is rated sixteen volts and which is readily available in a marine supply store.

Next, you need a battery of twelve volts and one which is a deep cycle battery that will work continuously and which is like the ones used in cars and if possible get you a bargain buy that should not cost more than fifty to sixty dollars, and then place the battery in a box for it that is available for a mere ten dollars. You can also add a twelve volt DC meter that you can purchase from Radio Shack for about twenty-five dollars and then get you a DC input and if you plan on running AC appliances then you will also need an inverter which will convert stored DC power to AC power. You will also need insulated wire for attaching the meter to wingnut terminals and perhaps a bungee cord to keep the lid shut.

Once you have your solar generator up and running using these simple items, you can expect peak output of about five dollars an hour and which would not exceed twenty dollars for the entire day which is not bad going and which when you consider how clean the power generated from a solar generator is, will be sure to make you feel good that you are not making the environment any worse than it already is, and given the dangers of global warming is certainly a very suitable means of providing power for ordinary everyday usage.
