Satellite TV Services offer just about anything that one can think of. There are even premium sports channels for those who want to watch their favorite team regardless of where one lives. If there is something that people want to watch, chances are that it can be found on satellite. Something else that technology has given us is the small eighteen inch dish that mounts on ones house. There is no more dealing with a swimming pool size dish that takes up space and looks ugly. The new dishes can be forgotten about because of their size. Unless someone is looking for a dish it probably wouldn't stand out in the open where others may spot it. Local Channels And Satellite Recently there was a law passed that took some local programming and took it off of ones satellite TV service. In some places one can get some local channels by using an antenna on the roof. Mostly, the feud is all about money and power and of course, politics. When the different companies bicker, it is the consumer who pays for the cost of the fight in the way of higher premiums on TV. Satellite TV services become more expensive while attorneys fight it out in courtrooms across the U.S. The part that is really disgusting is that in the mean time, the consumer has no local programming such as local news. This is one of the few advantages of cable TV. Local programming streams effortless into ones home, keeping the owners with local news. The fight is about information. Those who have the information can charge others who can't get it any other way. That means that if a family has satellite TV services and they want to also have local channels, they will have to pay extra for what under cable was free. |
