Take Your TV Anywhere With A Satellite TV Antenna

If you live on a houseboat or have a small sailboat or fishing boat, then consider purchasing a satellite TV antenna. If the fish aren't biting or the kids start fighting, and you just don't want to watch the same DVD for the millionth time, live TV might just save you from suffering from extreme boredom or teeth-gnashing frustration. This article takes a look at several satellite TV antennas that might suit your vacation or home entertainment needs.

It Costs WHAT?!

What house is complete without some kind of home entertainment system? One could ask the same question about a houseboat as well. For someone living on the water full-time or who likes spending a lot of time at sea (on a weekend fishing trip for example), conventional cable television just won't work. The only thing that will allow you to watch a football game or the latest episode of Grey's Anatomy is having a satellite TV antenna.

Unfortunately, a powerful satellite TV antenna is almost jaw-droppingly expensive. If you're really desperate to watch Desperate Housewives, expect to pay around two thousand dollars, if not more for a satellite TV antenna to beam your favorite programs onboard. One website with a good selection of satellite TV antennas to choose from is boatersland.com.

A nice, compact dome-shaped model that they have for sale is the KVH TracVision C3 Marine Satellite TV Antenna. It costs between $2100 and$2200, which was pretty consistent with most other websites. Interestingly, this is supposed to be one of the lowest priced units available! The C3 stands 14.5 inches high and can pick up about 300 channels, including DISH Network and DirecTV amongst others.

It is also supposed to be compatible with any DVB satellite system. Another KVH model is the KVH TracVision 4-HP Marine Satellite TV Antenna. The 4-HP stands 18 inches tall and costs over $4000! If you're wondering about the price jump, it is because this model comes with an internal stabilization system that allows it to function even in the roughest of seas.

Also available is the Raymarine 45 Stv Satellite TV System - North America for around $4600. However, the Raymarine requires a separate receiver in addition to the base unit. As long as you have the spare change for one of these satellite TV antennas, you don't have to change your couch potato ways when you sail the ocean blue.
