Safety Recalls On Baby Furniture Protect The ConsumerIn the past, safety recalls on baby furniture have taken effect for several items. Some of these safety recalls were issued before children were injured, but other safety recalls on baby furniture were only issued when a child was hurt or killed. The federal government is often responsible for the safety recalls on baby furniture, but sometimes the manufacturer issues their own safety recall on baby furniture before any official action comes from the government. The consumer should not have to lose any money because of a return on baby furniture because of safety hazards. Safety Recalls On Baby Furniture Are Widely Publicized Some of the safety recalls on baby furniture are the result of poor manufacturing standards by foreign companies. These manufacturers do not have the same stringent standards of most American companies. These manufacturers often sell to other countries that do not have similar safety standards that are in effect in America. The safety recalls are issued even if the furniture would cause some kind of minor injury. Unfortunately, some children have died before a safety recall was issued, and these furniture pieces would be rejected immediately by all countries if the problem were known. Some of the recalls are issued because there are problems that were not anticipated by the manufacturer. Most of these companies do not want to produce inferior or harmful products. Sometimes the problems are not known until the product is used by small children in every day activities. The products might have sharp edges that can cut and seriously wound a child. Other pieces of furniture are recalled because of the materials used in the manufacture of the product. Lead paint, for example, can be harmful to a child, but this danger is not easily noticed without the instruments necessary to test for lead in the product. Lead paint may look great, but this paint can cause significant harm to a child. |
