Why People Love Parquet Flooring

Parquet flooring was once upon a time made with the help of tiny square wood blocks covered by strips of expensive wood strips. This made the flooring extremely attractive; however, it was highly vulnerable to moisture and humidity. Often, if it were exposed to continuous humidity it would swell and crack. Today, parquet flooring is made out of highly resistant material such as hardwood or plywood, which is further enforced by lamination.

The Advantages of Parquet Flooring

This type of flooring has many advantages some of which are listed below:

  1. The parquet flooring is extremely attractive and rich looking. It is made out of tiny square pieces, which are then set directly over concrete base, in a specific geometric design. It comes in a variety of wood, i.e. cherry tree, beech, oak, maple and dark wood.
  2. You will find today a wide choice of material for parquet flooring, i.e. parquet bamboo, solid parquet, mosaic, laminate, etc which can match any type of interior and budget. New improved prefabricated parquet flooring is scratch proof as well. This comes in three types, i.e. waxed, plain finish and pre-oiled finish. Though it is available in all wood colors, light colors are mostly preferred worldwide.
  3. It is very easy to maintain. The parquet flooring can be easily cleaned and is highly resistant to spills, stains, and any other day-to-day abuse. Whenever the flooring becomes little old, it can be made as new with the help of a little sanding and varnish polish. This process can be repeated once every 3-4 years and you will have wonderful flooring for as long as you like.
  4. It is environment friendly and very strong. It can be used for any type of flooring, including basement flooring. This type of parquet is usually made of plywood (which uses less wood than normal wood floorings) with a laminated finish, which is excellent for basements.
  5. The parquet flooring is extremely cost efficient since once it is installed it can last for decades and still be just like new - with just the help of a little polish. There is no other flooring, which can look as good as new for years and years without any major investment.
Given the above advantages, it is not surprising that more and more people choose to have parquet flooring in their homes. The demand for this type of flooring is being revived by two main factors, the cost efficiency and easy and totally trouble-free maintenance.
