What are Natural Soy Wax Candles?

Candles were used to light up houses and other structures during the times gone by. Even when electricity was already discovered, some people still used candles when there were power outages. Now that electricity is more stable and there are generators to combat power interruptions, people use candles for other purposes. Candles are now used to generate a cozy ambience and more often for aromatherapy. They are commonly used to decorate and accentuate tables and other furniture. Natural soy wax candles are a more recent discovery, and they are very efficient for burning.

The Difference in the Natural Soy Wax Candles

The main component of candles is wax. Candles can be made of paraffin wax, beeswax and soy wax. Paraffin is the wax that is usually used in most candles. The downside to paraffin wax is that when it burns it produces carcinogens that can cause cancer. It also produces soot which can mark containers and other surfaces, or ceilings where the candle is located. Beeswax, on the other hand, is a popular alternative to paraffin because it does not produce carcinogens and it is a natural component.

Natural soy wax candles are made of all natural soy. They are supposed to last twice as long and burn more slowly than the paraffin candles. Natural soy wax candles are also cool burners, which mean they distribute the scent or the fragrance infused in the candle more than efficiently than the candles that tend to burn hotter. These natural soy wax candles also produce little, if any, soot and are non-toxic. This means they have fewer allergens or none at all, and do not trigger any allergic reactions in people.

Natural soy wax candles can easily be cleaned up with just ordinary soap and water. They are made from naturally grown soy beans in the United States, and since they are natural, they are biodegradable. This is a very big plus for natural soy wax candles because consumers today are more conscious of our environment and we wish to help save it when we can.

Care When Lighting a Candle

No matter what kind of candle you light, may it be paraffin or natural soy wax candles, care needs to be exercised. Do not leave the candle burning when there is no one to monitor it. Do not leave children alone with candles because they are naturally curious and might play with them. Make sure that you keep your lit candles away from drafts or flammable materials. Container candles must not be left burning for too long because the container might crack or break.
