Natural Incense: How To Burn Incense At HomeBurning Incense There are a number of ways to burn natural incense at home. One of the most popular methods of burning natural incense at home is to place the incense on a burning charcoal tablet. To ignite the charcoal tablet, place the tablet over a lighted candle and wait for a few seconds. Do not hold the charcoal tablet in your fingers when putting it above the lighted candle to avoid burning your fingers. Use crucible tongs that are made of iron to help the charcoal tablet when putting it above the burning candle. Once the charcoal tablet ignites, put the charcoal tablet in the incense boat or dish and add more unlighted charcoal tablets into the boat or dish if necessary. Gently rock the incense boat or dish backward and forward to provide more oxygen to the charcoal. Keep on rocking the incense boat or dish until the charcoal tablets are already fully ignited. Take care not to touch the boat or dish while you are rocking it. Note that the boat or dish can become hot when the charcoal tablets are already ignited. To make sure that you do not touch the boat or dish accidentally, it would be a good idea for you to use a potholder or a piece of thick cloth so that your hands do not directly contact with the incense boat or dish. Once the charcoal tablets are fully ignited, gently add some natural incense into the charcoal to produce some smell. Add more incense into the charcoal tablet whenever necessary. Take care not to put too much incense into the charcoal tablets. Putting too much incense into the charcoal tablets may snuff off the fire in the charcoal tablets. Furthermore, there are some types of incense that produces strong smell when used in excess so make sure that you only use the right amount of incense. After you have finished burning natural incense, make sure that you put out all the remaining embers in your incense boat or dish. For safety purposes, put a little water into the incense boat or dish to make sure that there are no more smoldering charcoal tablets lying under the ashes. |
