Brighten Outbuilding With Indoor Solar Lighting

Although it is not usual for a home to have a lot of sunlight inside, it does not rule out the use of indoor solar lighting, other than sun lights installed in the roof. While many may not have considered using solar power to provide indoor lighting, it is becoming a growing trend to save money on the electric bill. Some building may also be far away from the main dwelling, making it expensive to provide electricity for even a single bulb, and indoor solar lighting can solve the problem quickly and is many cases at little cost.

Inside the home indoor solar lighting can be placed next to a window through which light shines during the day to all the solar cells built into the lamp or lamp base to gather energy to charge an internal battery. Most indoor solar lighting use a 12-volt bulb and will operate directly off the battery at night providing lighting at no cost, except the initial investment which, in most cases is not that much higher than a traditional lamp. To provide light for other areas of the home, solar cells can be placed in a sunlit area and wired to battery inside the light for use during the day or evening.

For remote buildings where lighting is desired, indoor solar lighting can be used without the need to run electrical wiring to the building. Similarly, if the outbuilding has no windows, the solar cell can be placed on the roof ad wired into the lamp for use any time of the day or night.

Regulator Keeps Lamp Ready To Use

In more expensive types of indoor solar lighting a regulator will be part of the lamp that helps prevent the battery from being overcharged. When the battery reaches full power, the unit will break the connection to the charger without having to turn on the light. At night when the light is needed, the battery will be charged or, if used during the day while the light is burning, the battery can remain charged for use later.

With the use of indoor solar lighting homes can be lit up when away on vacation without increasing the electric bill, or if the power goes out lights will be available to keep the house illuminated. While away from home, the homeowner has no way of knowing there is no power, but can still be confident the night lights will be burning.
