Some Useful House Painting Tips

A new coat of paint makes all the difference in the world and it never hurts to get a little advice on how to make that coat of paint look even better. Painting your house takes time and sometimes the prep work can take longer than the painting but good house painting tips will help you make the job go smoother and get results that you will be very happy with. If you are really bad at painting then any house painting tips will be helpful.

Outside

People still paint the outside of their house in some cases even in this day and age of vinyl siding that takes minutes to clean. But there is still trim to paint and some people actually still have a wooden exterior to their house that they paint as well. The number one in good house painting tips for the outside is if you have vertigo, or any fear of heights, then don't do it. Yes it is that high up and yes if you are afraid of heights you will be a bit bothered by it. Ladders and fear of heights do not mix so the first in the list of house painting tips is if you need to hire someone then do it.

Don't be sloppy just because you are outside. If the trim is white and the house is yellow then use drop cloths and painter's tape to make sure the two stay separated and the house looks clean and professional. It is your home and people will be looking at it and if you allow paint to fly everywhere because it is just the outside then you will have a terrible looking house. So take your time and follow these house painting tips that tell you to make sure you get it right on the outside.

I cannot emphasize this house painting tip enough when I say to pick an exterior color scheme that is you but doesn't make you look crazy. A pink house with purple trim is a bit crazy. Be yourself but remember that others have to look at that mess too.

Inside

The best inside house painting tip I can give you is to make sure you cover rugs and furniture when you paint. Yes you may be the King Of Clean normally but stuff happens and you do not want to have to have a couch sitting in the middle of the room because you dumped a gallon of paint on the rug. Cover up and be prepared for anything. Take time to do prep work with painter's tape so if you do make a sudden movement it goes on the tape and not on the window or the wood work. Take your time and do the job right.

No that painting will not always be there so yes you will have to move it and no you cannot just paint around it. If you are going to paint then take the time and do it right. Show a little pride in your house.
