Resolving The HDTV Resolution

There are a variety of ways to historically categorize the existence of humanity. If you enjoy the study of civilizations you could classify the various periods of time according to which empire happened to be in power. The examples of this type of labeling could include the Roman Empire, Egyptian Empire, imperialistic rule of Great Britain or modern-day democracy.

Another way to categorize the different time frames would be to describe the various times that corresponded with significant elements from the earth utilized. These ages could be the Stone Age, Bronze Age, the Industrial Revolution or could include the technological age.

One of the inventions, during the technology age, was the television. And even within this age there have been further modifications that have taken place due to the specific advancement of technology. This is witnessed as the television has evolved from black-and-white to color to high-definition.

When it comes to high definition TV it is important to understand the terminology affiliated with HDTV. One specific term is HDTV resolution. What HDTV resolution is and the fact that the signal received must match the HDTV resolution are important factors to understand.

HDTV Resolution

HDTV resolution is technology that allows for the quality of television viewing to be significantly enhanced. This performance enhancement is due to the fact that the resolution capacity of a high definition television has been increased dramatically.

Specifically, resolution is the number of lines that can be displayed on a television set. These lines of resolution extend across a television's screen in a horizontal and vertical manner.

In addition, these lines of resolution are comprised of pixels. A pixel is the smallest unit of measurement that helps to portray a digitalized image. Therefore, the greater the number of pixels equates into a higher resolution which in turn provides a highly defined image.

To put the issue of HDTV resolution into perspective, the resolution of HDTV can display 10 times as many pixels as an ordinary television set.

Additional Consideration

In order to maximize your HDTV resolution it is important to remember that the image of your high definition television can only display or match the incoming source. In other words, if the provider of your television signal is offering service that is not of HDTV resolution quality, that is the image that will be displayed on the HDTV. This is due to the fact that the television signal which is feeding into the HDTV will remain what it is despite the capability of the high definition television.
