The answers would mostly depend on three factors, (1) the budget you have earmarked for this purpose, (2) the dimensions of your nursery room, (3) whether there are more children at home or not. If your budget is restricted, then you need not buy a double cot. Initially babies do not need much space to sleep and the standard cot would provide adequate space for your twins. However, you would need to move them into toddler beds a little earlier but that would not be a problem as normally twins adjust to changes faster because they have each other for company.
