Looking at the World of Cuckoo ClocksAfter all, in order for the jokes to work in these scenes, there needed to be an intimate familiarity with cuckoo clocks. In other words, cuckoo clocks had been around a lot longer than the 1930's and 1940's. In fact, their origin dates to the early 17th century in Germany's Black Forest! As one can see, it is obvious that cuckoo clocks are perennially popular. There are simply not all that many styles of clock that have lasted in terms of popularity for 400+ years! Collecting Cuckoo Clocks The collecting of cuckoo clocks has become a popular pastime among many people and this has spawned a large cottage industry of people who distribute cuckoo clocks to interested buyers. The multitude of cuckoo clocks on the market can be somewhat surprising to people who are not familiar with the significant expansiveness of the cuckoo clock market. Within the collector circle of cuckoo clocks there are antique clocks, new clocks, inexpensive models and ones that are quite pricey. Of all the unique types of cuckoo clocks that are available, the most unique, however, are those clocks that are custom made. Custom Cuckoo Clocks The word custom' is self-explanatory. What it refers to is handcrafted clocks that are one of a kind. Sometimes, these custom clocks are made to order. That is, they have been contracted for assembly by a specific buyer as opposed to the clock being custom made and then put on "general" sale. Needless to say, custom cuckoo clocks are the rarest of all of these types of clocks. Of course, just because a clock is custom made does not necessarily mean it will be flawless in terms of its design. (A few dud clocks are going to be made, but custom made clocks, in general, are usually well crafted) Of these custom made cuckoo clocks, the most valuable would be those that look exceptional and are quite old and rare. If a valuable cuckoo clock is what you are looking for then a custom made antique cuckoo clock would be the item to try an acquire. Of course, this may take a while as such a clock would be scare. Then again, that is what makes the search worthwhile. |
