The Advantages of Broadband Wireless Access

What is Broadband Wireless Access?

Broadband wireless access refers to the technology available which is aimed at providing that of high-speed wireless access over a wide area from certain devices such as personal computers and data networks. Generally, broadband wireless access service providers are found in particularly rural areas where cable or DSL is not available, and a broadband wireless access connection can either be licensed or unlicensed.

What are the Advantages of Broadband Wireless Access?

There are many advantages that are available with the wireless access, including the following: there is increased coverage and user penetration percentage in that of each individual cell due to densely positioned users in the particular service area; thus there is a simpler design of overlapping cells for higher coverage and therefore this permits higher spectra efficiency utilization; there is a major reduction in system interference, which comes from that of constraints and limitations that are imposed by the power amplifiers' nonlinearities in high-power systems due to spectral regrowth.

Also, there is reduction in the required radio channel spacing which can be achieved, which will thus lead to that of an increased system capacity due to higher spectra utilization and efficiency; there is an additional improvement in the system gain margin, and link availability also comes from the short LOS distance that removes the signal reception limitation due to that of excessive rain attenuation and system downtime.

WiMax is relevant to the issue of wireless broadband access, in that it is considered as being the most promising engineering technology in the wireless broadband access industry. WiMax provides the user with excellent performance and spectral efficiency, and also allows the user to deploy a network which will serve both mobile and fixed users; this factor is incredibly important is WiMax is presently the only option that is available which offers this feature.

WiMax covers a couple of different frequency ranges, and its channel sizes range from that of 1.5 to 20MHz and offer a WiMax based network the flexibility they need in order to support a variety of data transmitting rates such as that of T1, and higher data transmitting rates up to 70Mbps on a single channel that can the support thousands of users. It is this flexibility which has made WiMax such an advantageous product, and why it is considered to be the absolutely most promising factor in engineering technology in regards to broadband wireless access.
