However, Earthlink does face that of incredibly fierce competition from the nation's largest phone and cable companies, and they are at a competitive disadvantage due to the fact that these other phone and cable companies have the ability to bundle multiple voice, data, and cable services together in one package deal. Another important piece of broadband news is that regarding WiMax and the securing of WiMax networks. Although some believe that this is advantageous, there are some which consider that this improvement' does not make WiMax any more secure than that of a well secured WiFi network, and that the vulnerabilities that do exist consist primarily of that of operating system device drivers. As well, it is considered that if you want a high security network it is essential that you have it wired. This is because although you can make a wireless system secure, with all of the necessary encryption and other various security measures that are necessary, it will thus be more hard to use and still will not be as secure as a wired network. The general opinion is that if you are looking to complete casual tasks on the system, then the wireless option is basically fine, but if you are planning on completing such tasks as banking or shopping, you should never choose a wireless system, and always stick to the hardwired option as this is much more secure. |
