Bonsai Plants: A Symbol of Culture And Tradition Of The OrientThe practice of wearing iron sandals resulted in so much suffering among Chinese women in the olden times that many of them became crippled for life. Since the bonding of the feet of the women is analogous to the practice of confining the roots of the bonsai plants to small pots to prevent the tree from growing, many women with Chinese descendants are uncomfortable with the idea of making bonsai plants. Although there are some sectors that object to the fact that bonsai making impedes the natural growth of plants thereby restricting the natural flow of things, the art of bonsai making is something that many Orientals are truly proud of. This art has been passed from generation to generation among oriental families. At present, many people in the United States and Europe practice the art of bonsai making. Thousands of people all over the world now have bonsai plants in their homes. The Nature Of Bonsai Plants True bonsai plants have very small roots systems. Since the bonsai plant cannot hold much water in its roots, it will easily wilt and die if you do not water it frequently. To keep this plant alive, you need to sprinkle water on it preferable twice in a day. However, you should take care not to put excessive water into the bonsai plant because too much water could cause the delicate root zones of the plant to rot. Most bonsai plants are designed to grow indoors or in areas which are well protected from the elements. Note that these plants are very sensitive to the sun and wind. If you expose these plants to excessive heat, these plants will die out. However, the good news is that if you know how to take care of your bonsai plants, these plants could last hundreds of years. In China and Japan, passing the bonsai plant from one generation to another is a common practice. |
