BMW Alarm System for a 2002 330i

This article is going to discuss the benefits and features of the BMW alarm system in a 2002 330i. This is not a standard feature and the documentation on this

BMW alarm system was rather lacking so hopefully this article will prove useful to someone looking for information on this, as well as other, BMW alarm systems.

Features of the BMW Alarm System

The first thing that needs to be discussed before even talking about the BMW alarm system is how the actual starting mechanism on newer BMW's works. BMW engineers have made it virtually impossible to hotwire any of there cars. In addition to that, in order to get a replacement key you need to be the registered owner of the car and have identification. These keys can only be made at the dealer. As you can see that first step goes a long way to preventing BMW's from getting stolen.

In some cases that is not enough of a deterrent to would be criminals. If you really want to protect your investment and assure yourself that your vehicle will not be stolen than you will want to have a BMW alarm system installed. There are three separate components to the BMW alarm system that protect your vehicle.

The first is the alarm itself tied into the doors and trunk of your vehicle. This alarm will go off if anyone tries to open any door on the vehicle while it is armed. The alarm will sound and flash all of the lights on the vehicle until it is disarmed by the remote key. This is very loud and effective.

The next component of the BMW alarm system is the motion sensor. Inside the vehicle there are infrared sensors that will detect any movement inside the vehicle when armed. This will prevent someone from breaking a window than entering the car that way. Again you will need to disarm the alarm with your key if it is activated.

The third component of the BMW alarm system is the tilt sensor. This sensor will detect if the car is moved or tilted up or down when armed. This is to prevent someone from towing your vehicle away. While this may not seem likely, it is pretty much the only effective way to steal a modern BMW as the car is completely locked down when the key is not in the ignition.

As you can see there are several very key protections that your BMW alarm system will add. Hopefully this article has shed some light on how the system works.
