How Much Baby Room Furniture Do You Need for a Nursery?Preparing the Nursery Involves Careful Planning There are many preparations that you would do during the nine "preparatory" months that precede the birth of the baby and one among these is decorating the nursery. Many parents find out in advance the gender of the baby so they can be ready with appropriate names and buy blue (for boys) or pink (for girls) linen, clothes and other baby stuff. It is a wonderful time of anticipation and joy. There are plenty of stores that specialize in baby room furniture and usually parents make a beeline there when they start planning the nursery. When you reach there and see all that is displayed, you would wonder how much baby room furniture you really need. You will need a crib definitely for the baby to sleep in. you will also need a large wardrobe for the baby's clothes, blankets, bed sheets, and so on. You will also want to consider getting a large toy box as you will inevitably begin to buy toys for your baby right from the day you learn you are expecting. You may also need a changing table where you could keep some handy things while changing the baby and lastly you would need a comfortable sized playpen. That is about all the baby room furniture you would need say, for the first two years of your baby's life. The floor would be best left uncovered because rugs tend to accumulate dust and a lot of other unwanted things. The best choice would be good quality parquet which would look and feel good when the baby would start crawling. Where Will the Baby Grow Up? In very rare cases the baby would be limited to the nursery. In fact, the baby would be there only for the most part only during the first six months and then he or she would be where the rest of the family would be. Hence, investing too much in baby room furniture all at once is not really a good idea. Concentrate rather on what is utilitarian for the first few years of the baby's life and leave it at that. Other than the basic baby room furniture, you would need to have some nice paintings (cartoons, doodles, etc.) on the walls, and a few things you could hang over the baby's crib for the time he would be learning to focus his eyes. All the rest you can get as the baby grows up. |
